In Vitro Fertilization

IVF TREATMENT

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) treatment for couples coming from abroad is usually carried out in well-organized clinics and centers. Here is a general description of this process:

Application and Before: Couples first apply to an IVF center. During the application, the medical history of the couple is examined, the necessary tests are performed and a treatment plan is created. This process may take several days depending on the couple’s country or city.

Creating a Treatment Plan: Separate medical evaluations are made for men and women. While the woman’s ovulation capacity, uterine structure and hormonal status are evaluated, the man’s sperm quality and quantity are tested. The treatment plan is determined according to the health conditions of the couple and the protocols of the IVF center.

Treatment Process: IVF treatment is usually planned depending on the woman’s menstrual cycle. The woman is given hormone medications to stimulate egg development. Under the influence of these drugs, eggs grow and mature.

Egg Collection: Once the eggs mature, egg collection, which is a surgical procedure, is performed. This procedure is usually performed under light sedation or general anesthesia and is completed in a short time.

Sperm Provision and Processing: A sperm sample is taken from the man and processed in the laboratory. Good quality sperm are selected and fertilization with eggs is performed.

Embryo Transfer: The best quality fertilized eggs (embryos) are transferred to the woman’s uterus, usually after 3 to 5 days. This procedure is usually painless and does not require anesthesia.

Monitoring and Return: After the embryo transfer, the woman rests for a few days and is monitored by the IVF center. A return ticket can be planned during this period, but it is recommended to stay at the clinic until the post-treatment pregnancy test is performed.

Process and Length of Stay: IVF treatment can usually last several weeks. Depending on when the couple visits the IVF center and the treatment plan, the length of stay may vary. Usually a short stay (a few days) is sufficient for the egg collection and embryo transfer stages. However, the treatment plan may take up to several weeks, considering possible complications and follow-up periods.

IVF treatment for couples coming from abroad is usually planned in detail and support is provided to the couples throughout the treatment process. During the treatment, separate procedures are planned for men and women, and all necessary arrangements are made to ensure that the couples are comfortable during the treatment process.

Frequently Asked Questions

In Vitro Fertilization

With the short protocol we now use, the duration is not very long. Treatment begins on the 3rd day of your menstrual cycle. Within 8-10 days, the eggs will reach the desired size for retrieval, and then you will need to wait an additional 3-5 days for embryo transfer. During this period, frequent follicle monitoring and other procedures are typically performed every 3-4 days, so patients can usually visit from nearby locations on a daily basis.

There is no age limit for IVF treatment. However, the success rate significantly decreases with age. The chance of live birth is about 30% before age 35, 15% at age 38, 9% at age 40, 3% at age 43, and 2% for those over age 45.

There is no known limit. The likelihood of pregnancy increases to 60-70% within the first 3 attempts. After the 3rd attempt, the success rates do not typically exceed 10%.
